Hi Regina and all the magnificent bloggers you teach.
I'm Al Upton and the miniLegends are the Year3 class (8 and 9 year olds) I teach in Adelaide, South Australia.
I have visited every one of your blogs (took a while!) but it was my intention to only make one comment that hopefully might make sense to all of you. I chose to comment on Ariel's http://arielal09.edublogs.org/ and focused on 'authentic communication'. Perhaps you can all consider some of the questions there.
Your blogs are so cool .. they are personal and demonstrate the power of blogging for learning. I will do what I can to connect you with at least one class in Australia .. I'll spread the word as best as I can :)
Your words on 'Freedom of Speech' are wonderful. I love the different perspectives (all valid) that you bring to this fundamental right. It's interesting because recently I had to close down our class blog because someone complained that something 'could' happen using blogs. We would so value your comments giving 'student voice' and opinion. Perhaps just briefly summarise your thoughts and add a comment to http://alupton.edublogs.org/ ? Your choice.
Because of what has happened we have started a class forum called 'Article 13' This came from comment #15 ... the minis comments start at #101 ... now we have over 250 comments but really need students who know what they are talking about ... I think that could well be the Rumford Writers. Just an idea .. but any hints how the miniLegends could make a difference with their 'Article 13' forum would also be great.
It has been wonderful listening to your thoughts and seeing what your interests are. I really wish I could have commented on everyone's blogs. Hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers, Al
